Welcome Home

We're the church without windows or walls. A growing, lively, young community finding new life in ancient traditions. Intentionally based outdoors, we value the environment, children, inclusivity and eating together. You'll find us in the woods rebuilding connection with our earth, ourselves and our Maker. Welcome to Magdalene Community Church.

Breathe deep, rest in God

Our pattern of worship, prayer, work, learning, hanging out, eating and singing together means there's something going on almost every day of the week, but our pace is slow and our transitions are soft. For example our worship is a whole day or afternoon thing, rather than an hour.

If you plan on coming for the first time, please get in touch. We know trying new things can feel hard, and we want to make your experience as soft and beautiful as we can. Read on to find out where we'll be and when.

Experience MCC on a Sunday

On Sundays our worship begins at 1.30pm at our church site in the woods. The first thing we do is build the church together. We unload the vehicle on the track and carry in and set up everything we need. It's a great time for bonding and giving thanks to God for the different ways he uses our bodies and skills, whether we're putting up hammocks, laying out food, lighting incense or moving logs around. You are invited to join in, even if it's your first time. It will help you feel part of the community.

When we are ready we follow the pattern of a regular Anglican Holy Communion service. There are prayers of confession and absolution, we share the peace, there's a Bible reading, teaching and discussion, there's singing and finally the Eucharist itself. Our gatherings always include food. Either our food team cook for the whole church, or church households bring and share food. If you are a first timer please don't feel you need to contribute. Come and be fed.

How is this new church developing? What's coming up? What are we praying about?
